Due to the sensitive nature of archaeological sites and resources and the potential for the abuse thereof resulting from public knowledge of their location, landmark sites defined under Section 1-9.205 of Article 2 of Chapter 9 of Title 1 of this Code relating to the habitation, activity, or culture of prehistoric man or historic native American culture shall not be designated on zoning maps. However, the development of properties containing archaeological resources of such nature shall be subject to all the other provisions of this article.
