The Police Department shall be composed of members who shall be appointed by ordinance. Members shall be at least 21 years of age, and shall not have been convicted of any offense that would be punishable as a felony under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky or any other state. Members shall have high ethical character and shall conduct themselves in a manner free from impropriety. They shall at no time conduct themselves in such a manner as to bring discredit to the police or to the city. Any member hired after July 14, 1992, must be a high school graduate or have received general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.).
