(a) There is hereby created a Volunteer Auxiliary Police Unit for the Tallmadge Police Department pursuant to Ohio R.C. 737.051 for the purpose of performing duties to assist regular police officers.
(b) The Mayor, acting as Director of Public Safety, shall establish general rules for the volunteer auxiliary unit.
(c) The Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay a stipend unrelated to duties performed, of thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per member per each month of full membership to the unit. The stipend payment may be waived upon mutual agreement of the Police Chief and the volunteer. The Volunteer Auxiliary Police Unit is prohibited from providing auxiliary services for the City or for third parties on a compensated basis.
(d) The City shall provide all training, uniforms, vehicles, and equipment necessary for the volunteer service.
