114.01 GENDER BALANCE.
   (a)   All appointive boards, commissions and committees heretofore or hereafter established by law or resolution of this Municipality shall reflect, as much as possible, a gender balance. If two applicants, one male, one female, are equally qualified for the position, efforts shall be made to prioritize the appointment of a member of the gender underrepresented on the commission.
   (b)   If there are multiple appointing authorities for a board, commission or committee, such authorities shall consult each other to avoid a violation of this section.
   (c)   An exception to this section may be made on boards, commissions or committees whose members are required to hold professional or trade licenses or meet certain educational requirements necessary to serve on those bodies.
   (d)   Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit an individual from completing a term for which the person was appointed. (Ord. 85-1992. Passed 6-25-92.)
