For grease, oil and inorganic material such as sand, grit and the like, interceptors shall be provided when in the opinion of the Village Administrator, they are necessary for the proper handling of liquid wastes containing floatable grease in excessive amounts, as specified in § 51.028, or any flammable wastes, sand or other harmful ingredients; except that such interceptors shall not be required for private living quarters or dwelling units. Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of impervious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in temperature. They shall be of substantial construction, watertight and equipped with easily removable covers which, when bolted in place, shall be gastight and watertight. All interceptors shall be of a type and capacity approved by the Village Administrator, and shall be located as to be readily and easily accessible for cleaning and inspection. In the maintenance of these interceptors the owner shall be responsible for the proper removal and disposal by appropriate means of the captured material and shall maintain records of the dates, and means of disposal which are subject to review by the Village Administrator. Any removal and hauling of the collected materials not performed by the owner personnel must be performed by currently licensed waste disposal firms.
