A. Whenever in the judgment of the Mayor of the City, the operation on any City street or section of City street of vehicles of the sizes and weights and at the rates of speed permissible by law will cause damage to the road by reason of climatic or other conditions or will interfere with the safe and efficient use of such street by the traveling public, the Mayor shall have authority to enter an order reducing the permissible sizes, weights or speeds of vehicles operated on such street for such periods as may be necessary for the protection of the road or for public safety, and shall erect and maintain signs designating such regulations at each end of such street or section and at intersections with main traveled roads and highways. B. Any person operating a motor vehicle in violation of the restrictions thus ordered shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as provided by section 1-4-1 of this Code. (Ord. 109, 7-16-1976; amd. 1990 Code)
