(A) A person shall not misuse 9-1-1 or other emergency services by:
(1) Making repeated calls requesting law enforcement, fire, or ambulance services for matters which do not require such services;
(2) Summoning, as a joke, prank, or without good reason, by telephone or otherwise, law enforcement or the Fire Department or any public or private ambulance to go to any address where the service called is not needed;
(3) Intentionally making a false report of the commission of a crime, or intentionally causing a false report of the commission of a crime to be made to a 9-1-1 operator knowing the report is false; or
(4) Making, or intentionally causing to be made, a false report of a medical or other emergency to a peace officer, police agency of this state or of a local unit of government, firefighter or fire department of this state or a local unit of government of this state, 9-1-1 operator, medical first responder, or any governmental employee or contractor or employee of a contractor who is authorized to receive reports of medical or other emergencies.
(B) A person may be prosecuted under this section if the call originates in the township or causes services to be summoned to a location in the township.
(C) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in jail and/or a $500 fine, plus cost of prosecution.
