§ 111.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   PANHANDLER, PANHANDLING and PANHANDLE. Any solicitation made in person upon any street, public property, public place or private property open to and generally accessible to the public, in which a person requests an immediate donation of money or other goods from another person, verbally or otherwise, and includes, but is not limited to, seeking donations. PANHANDLING shall not include solicitations from charitable or civic organizations as defined in M.C.L.A. § 257.676b.
   SOLICITOR, SOLICITATION, and SOLICITING. Any person (which includes any individual, firm, corporation, or organization or its agents), traveling either by foot, wagon, automotive vehicle, or other conveyance, from place to place, from house to house, or from street to street, taking or attempting to take orders for the sale of goods and merchandise or personal property of any nature; or attempting to collect monies, pledges, or donations for charitable or religious causes; or for services to be furnished or performed, whether or not the person has, carries, or exposes for sale a sample of the subject of the sale or whether the person is collecting advance payments on the sales or not; or any similar actions or activities including those persons who call themselves transient merchants; canvassers, peddlers, and other similar terms.
