(A) Occasional sales of household goods and personal property shall be permitted in each of the residential districts, but the occasional sales, whether they be designated as yard sales, garage sales, porch sales, moving sales, basement sales, or household or personal goods sales, shall not be held on any premises more often than once every 60 days, and in no case shall any such sale or sales exceed 3 days in duration.
(B) Signs advertising sales governed by this subchapter shall not be posted for more than 3 consecutive days either on the property where the sale is occurring or on any other property in the township.
(C) This subchapter is adopted to regulate and discourage commercial and systematic sales of articles in residential districts within the township.
(D) It is the intent of this subchapter to authorize and allow periodic sales of household goods by homeowners in residential districts, but to prohibit businesses and other commercial enterprises from engaging in business in a residential district.
(E) This subchapter shall be duly published as provided by law in the Jackson Citizen Patriot, a newspaper having general circulation in Summit Township, and shall take effect after publication.
