§ 95.02 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning:
   ALARM SYSTEM. A device or devices designed, silent or audible, or arranged to signal the existence of a hazard requiring the urgent or non-urgent response of fire or law enforcement personnel. These systems include intrusion alarms, fire alarms and all other alarms which require or result in a response by fire or law enforcement personnel.
   ALARM USER. Any person who owns, possesses, controls, or otherwise exercises dominion/responsibility over property upon which an alarm system is placed.
   AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL. A member of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office or the Fire Department.
   FALSE ALARM. The activation, whether intentionally, accidently or otherwise, of an alarm system requiring an urgent or non-urgent response by fire or law enforcement personnel assigned to the township, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office or fire/law enforcement personnel acting on behalf of the township, when there is no immediate threat to life, safety, or property in, on, or about the property from which the alarm signal originated. A FALSE ALARM includes an alarm of unknown origin, but shall not include alarms caused by tornadoes, earthquakes, lightning, or other conditions beyond the control of the user.
   NUISANCE ALARM SYSTEM. An alarm system that is not properly maintained or is improperly used resulting in repeated false alarms.
   PEACE OFFICER. Any law enforcement officer or other person authorized to investigate and enforce violations of federal law, state law, or township ordinance. This includes township ordinance officers and firefighters who are in the process of investigating violations of township ordinances they are authorized to enforce.
   PERSON. Any individual, business or entity.
