A Certificate of Occupancy shall be issued by the Building Official. It shall be unlawful to occupy or use a building prior to the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy. The Building Official is obligated to certify that the building substantially complies with all provisions of the approved construction documents. It shall be a violation of this Building Code if the applicant files false information on their application, or if the building is occupied before final inspection has been made and a Certificate of Occupancy or Certificate of Completion has been issued.
