(a) The type of protection required shall depend on the degree of hazard. The minimum requirements are as follows:
(1) An approved air-gap separation shall be installed in special cases where there could be a severe health hazard. Such determination shall be made by the Director of Sanitary Sewer Services or his authorized representative.
(2) An approved reduced pressure principle backflow prevention assembly shall be installed where a public water system may become contaminated.
(3) An approved double check valve assembly shall be installed where a public water system may be polluted.
