(a) The offices of Director of Public Safety and Director of Public Service are hereby merged into one position which shall be known as the office of Director of Public Safety and Service. The person appointed to the position of Director of Public Safety and Service shall carry out all of the duties prescribed by State law relative to both positions and in addition to the performance of duties of Director of Public Safety and Service he shall likewise perform and carry out the duties and responsibilities defined by the Zoning Ordinance and the Safety-Service Director shall also be known as the Zoning Commissioner of the City.

(b) The Director of Public Safety and Service in addition to the other duties provided by law shall perform the duties of Building Inspector as specified and defined by the Building Code.
