909.20 ROAD, DEVIL STRIP AND YARD RESTORATION SPECIFICATIONS.
   (a)    Repair of Roadway after Excavation: The Street Department Foreman is to be notified when restoration work is to commence. Upon completion of excavation work, all of the following shall occur:
      (1)    The opening is to be immediately back filled with premium slag, tamped and compacted every six (6) inches.
      (2)    Leave eight (8) inches from the top of the roadway.
      (3)    Pour six (6) inches of fast set concrete and allow sufficient time for the concrete to dry.
      (4)    Cut a squared, rectangular patch area from the curb to the center of the roadway, extending one (1) foot beyond the original opening on all sides. If the street opening extends beyond the centerline of the roadway, the patch area shall extend from curb to curb.
      (5)    Lay the final two (2) inches with asphalt, even with the top of the existing roadway, leaving a neat, flat, squared, rectangular patch, with no dips or bumps, following the existing grade and contour of the roadway.
      (6)    Properly seal the new asphalt.
   (b)    Schedule:
      (1)    (a)(1) and (2) of the section shall be done immediately.
      (2)    (a)(3) of this section shall be done within four (4) days.
      (3)    (a)(4), (5) and (6) of this section shall be done three (3) to five (5) days after (a)(3) of this section.
      (4)    At no time shall an incomplete opening restoration be left unattended without first covering it with firmly secured plating to allow traffic to flow over it or sufficient reflective or illuminated barricades to prevent traffic from driving into it.
   (c)    Winter Months:
      (1)    Same as (a)(1), (2) and (3) of this section. Cover hole with visqueen, lay two (2) inches of concrete over the visqueen.
      (2)    When blacktop plant opens, go back and remove the top layer of concrete and visqueen and then complete (a)(4), (5) and (6) of this section.
      (3)    If a hole in the roadway needs to be plated, the plate shall be anchored so there is no movement.
   (d)    Sidewalk Repair:
      (1)    Sub-base shall be granulated slag, not less than four (4) inches deep when well and evenly tamped to a uniform degree of firmness and shall extend three (3) inches on each side of the walk.
      (2)    The concrete shall be a minimum of four (4) inches thick, even with the top and sides of the existing sidewalk and floated to a rough-grained surface and spray cured.
   (e)    Curb Repair:
      (1)    Repairs are to be dowelled into existing curb, using 3/8" steel dowels. Concrete must be six (6) inches in thickness, same radius as the existing curb and spray cured.
   (f)    Devil Strip and Yard Work.
      (1)    Same grade or level as before; shall be cut six (6) inches to twelve (12) inches on each side of the area to be repaired.
      (2)    Topsoil added.
      (3)    Area to be fertilized.
      (4)    Re-sod or reseed as appropriate.
      (5)    Water frequently.
