"Canvasser or solicitor for charitable donations" means any person who calls at residences or places of business without the invitation or previous consent of the owner or occupant of such premises for the purpose of requesting and/or receiving money, pledges, donations or gifts, exclusively for charitable purposes. It shall include canvassers or solicitors for funds for medical and social research and other similar purposes.
