ADOPTING ORDINANCE

ORDINANCE NO. 0-20-2023

   AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE

   VILLAGE OF STRASBURG, OHIO — REVISING, RE-STATING, CODIFYING

   AND COMPILING EXISTING VILLAGE GENERAL ORDINANCES, AS

   COMPILED BY AMERICAN LEGAL PUBLISHING

   Whereas, the Village of Strasburg has historically passed and maintained ordinances, by ordinance number, and had not compiled them into a numbered code or ordinances, and it became apparent that the Village needed to codify its general ordinances, for ease of use and reference, both by Village officials and by the public, and

   Whereas, in Ordinance 0-18-2022, Village Council authorized hiring of American Legal Publishing to review the Village's existing ordinances, and to arrange them in a logical numbered order, into a code of general ordinances, and

   Whereas, American Legal Publishing did compile and arrange the Village's general ordinances into a numbered and ordered code of ordinances, and in August, 2023, submitted the final version of the Strasburg Code of Ordinances to the Village, for review and approval, and

   Now therefore, the Village Council of Strasburg, Ohio ordains as follows,

   Sec. 1 — The Strasburg Code of Ordinances submitted by American Legal Publishing to the Village of Strasburg is hereby adopted, in full, and ratified as containing the general ordinances of the Village, and compiled in book form as the "Code of Ordinances of the Village of Strasburg, Ohio." The Village's general ordinances may be referred to, in all official proceedings and court actions, by either their ordinance number or their codified (section) number.

   Sec. 2 — The Code of Ordinances adopted herein shall consist of the following Titles:

      Title I -   General Provisions

      Title III -   Administration

      Title V -   Public Works

      Title VII -   Traffic Code

      Title IX -   General Regulations

      Title XI -   Business Regulations

      Title XIII -   General Offenses

      Title XV -   Land Usage

   Sec. 3 — This ordinance is not intended to repeal any existing general Village ordinances, even though some of them may be modified in the codification process. In case of conflict between an existing general ordinance and the codified version thereof, the codified version thereof shall take precedence.

   Sec. 4 — Ordinances passed after the date of passage of this ordinance shall be effective under their ordinance numbers, until incorporated by American Legal Publishing into the codified ordinances; thereafter, they may be referred to by either their ordinance number or their codified (section) number.

   Sec. 5 — The Code of Ordinances shall become effective on the date of passage by Council and ratification by the Mayor.
