§ 91.32 DESTRUCTION OF UNREDEEMED AND VICIOUS DOGS AND CATS.
   (A)   Dogs. It is the duty of the Director of Public Safety, or any person designated by him or her, to destroy any dog unredeemed at the expiration of five days from the time of capture, or to provide for its donation to a licensed animal shelter facility, and it shall be lawful for the village police to kill any vicious dog at large within the limits of the village which cannot safely be taken up and impounded. Any destruction or donation of impounded dogs shall be by humane means prescribed by the State Animal Control Act.
   (B)   Cats. It is the duty of the Director of Public Safety, or any person designated by him or her, to destroy any cat unredeemed at the expiration of five days from the time of capture, or to provide for its donation to a licensed animal shelter facility and it shall be lawful for the village police to kill any vicious cat at large within the limits of the village which cannot safely be taken up and impounded.
