9-3-1: COMPOSITION OF BOARD:
The Building Inspector should make contact with professional organizations and select qualified persons for recommendation to the legislative body for appointment. This five (5) member Board should consist of persons representative of the construction profession and should consist of a structural engineer, an architect, a general contractor, a specialty contractor (other than 1 from a trade regulated by the codes) and a lay member of the public. The Building Inspector should be a nonvoting, ex-officio member and act as Secretary. Each Board member shall serve a term of four (4) years, at which time they may be replaced or reappointed. This group should not act on matters pertaining to electrical, plumbing and mechanical questions. Those persons recommended by the Building Inspector will be interviewed by the Mayor or his official representative. The names will then be submitted to the Town Council for formal appointment.
