9-1A-3: EXEMPTIONS FROM BUILDING PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Scope: Exemption from the permit requirements of this chapter shall not be deemed to grant authorization for any work to be done in any manner in violation of the provisions of this chapter or any other laws or ordinances of the jurisdiction. Although a permit may not be required, other requirements, such as setbacks, structure heights, fence heights, number of accessory structures, etc., may be required and enforced by the Building Department, so all plans must be reviewed by the Department.
   B.   Exemptions: Permits shall not be required for the following:
      1.   Non-structural changes to a building, such as siding, roofing of not more than three (3) layers, replacement in kind such as doors, windows, etc.
      2.   Cosmetic repairs and maintenance of electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
      3.   Demolition of accessory buildings known to contain no asbestos.
      4.   Accessory buildings not exceeding two hundred (200) square feet in size.
      5.   Retaining walls not over four feet (4') in height.
   C.   Conflicts: If this section conflicts with any areas of the development or building code, then this section shall supersede those sections but will not change the meaning of any other areas of the development or building code. (Ord. 03-11, 11-10-2003; amd. 2017 Code)
