§ 92.15 SIDEWALKS.
   (A)   Snow removal. It shall be the duty of the owner, occupant, or person having the care of a building or lot of land, bordering on any sidewalk in the city to keep sidewalk abutting his or her premises free and clear of snow and ice to the extent feasible under the prevailing weather conditions and to remove therefrom all snow and ice, to the extent feasible under the prevailing weather conditions. A reasonable time will not ordinarily exceed 12 hours after the abatement of any storm during which the snow and ice may have accumulated.
   (B)   General maintenance. The maintenance of a sidewalk within the City of St. Matthews right-of-way shall be the responsibility of the City of St. Matthews. Any sidewalk (or portion of any sidewalk) located on private property is the sole responsibility of the private property owner. However, no owner, occupant, or person having the care of a building or lot of land, bordering on any sidewalk in the city’s right-of-way may cause damage to the sidewalk by allowing any condition to exist (or by taking, or negligently failing to take any action), that causes damage to the sidewalk. An owner, occupant, or person having the care of a building or lot of land, bordering on any sidewalk in the city’s right-of-way, shall timely notify the city of any defect or damage to said sidewalk abutting the property.
