Fire equipment shall have the right of way on all streets in going to a fire, and every vehicle of any kind, on the approach of any fire equipment shall immediately draw up to the curb or the side of the street and remain stationary until the fire department equipment has passed. All pedestrians, except firefighters, along the street along which the fire equipment is passing shall remain on the sidewalks and away from the street intersections.
