8-1-7-3: CROSSWALKS AND CROSSING AREAS:
It shall be the duty of the mayor or any person designated by him to keep all crosswalks and intersections designated by ordinance appropriately marked upon the pavement or upon the curbing abutting the street so as to warn drivers of passing vehicles that they are approaching the vicinity of a crosswalk and to slow down to a lawful rate of speed. The mayor or any person designated by him is also authorized and required to establish and maintain, by paint marks upon the surface of the paved roadway, crosswalks, approximately equal in width to the adjacent sidewalks at all intersections.
