A. Purpose: The purpose of this section is to approve the operation of golf carts on the streets of the city, as authorized by Iowa Code 321.247.
B. Operation Of Golf Carts Permitted: Except as prohibited in subsection C of this section, golf carts may be operated upon the streets of the city by persons possessing a valid driver's license.
C. Prohibited Streets: Golf carts shall not be operated upon any city street which is a primary road extension through the city, i.e., Iowa #S-56, but shall be allowed to cross a city street which is a primary road extension through the city.
D. Equipment: Golf carts shall be equipped with a slow moving vehicle sign, a bicycle safety flag, shall be equipped with adequate brakes and shall meet any other safety requirements imposed by the city council.
E. Hours: Golf carts may be operated on city streets only between sunrise and sunset.
F. Registration: Golf carts operated on city streets are not required to be registered. (Ord., 7-6-1982; amd. 2004 Code)
