6-2-10: OPEN BURNING:
   A.   Open burning of garbage or other matter which would cause noxious odors or which would not be wholly consumed in the burning process is declared to be illegal within the city limits.
   B.   Open burning may be conducted any day between the hours of ten o'clock (10:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M. with the following restrictions:
      1.   If the smoke from burning yard waste interferes with any of your neighbors you must cease burning immediately.
      2.   You may not burn green yard waste which will cause excessive smoke and smolders rather than burns.
      3.   You may not burn during a temperature inversion which holds the smoke on the ground.
      4.   You may not burn when the wind speed is over five (5) miles per hour.
      5.   You may not burn when the smoke drifts at ground level.
   C.   Backyard campfires are not limited to the hours stated in subsection B of this section; however, all other restrictions still apply.
   D.   Any disputes will be arbitrated and settled by the mayor. The mayor's decision is final. (Ord. 06-01, 9-11-2006)
