In considering any application for design approval, the architectural design review commission shall be governed by the following criteria:
   A.   New buildings, structures, signs and exterior remodeling or resurfacing projects shall be designed with special attention to ADR recommendations.
   B.   Where practical and economically feasible, primary materials used in the construction of a new building's exterior front, side and rear elevations should consist of the following:
      1.   Wood: Must be properly stained and treated for pests and the elements.
      2.   Stone: Must resemble stone predominantly found in the surrounding natural areas.
      3.   Stucco: Must be used in combination with wood and/or stone. Visible elevations consisting only of stucco will be reviewed.
      4.   Metal: May be used in combination with a wood and/or stone facade on all visible sides.
   C.   Synthetic or fabricated materials intended to resemble the above materials are approved provided they faithfully represent the natural material. Decorative materials may be used to enhance the decorative features of the building.
   D.   Materials used in constructing and finishing a structure shall be of permanent and good quality and be compatible with the materials used in the structures in the vicinity.
   E.   Where practical and economically feasible, reflective glossy surfaces and materials should be avoided with the exception of windows. (Ord. O07-16, 2-7-2008)
