159.04 COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT; TERM; COMPENSATION; VACANCIES.
   (a)    The Human Rights Commission shall be composed of five members, all residents of the City and broadly representative of the several racial, religious and ethnic groups residing with the City. Such members shall be appointed by the Mayor by and with the advice and consent of Council. The City Attorney shall be an ex officio member of the Human Rights Commission.
   (b)    No more than three members of the Commission shall be members of the same political party.
   (c)   Members of the Commission shall be appointed to terms of three years commencing on July 1 of the year of their appointments; except, that the five members first appointed pursuant to this section shall be appointed for terms as follows: one member for three years; two members for two years; two members for one year.
   (d)    Upon the expiration of the initial terms, on June 30 of each succeeding year hereafter, all subsequent appointments shall be for terms of three years each; except, that appointments to fill vacancies shall be for the unexpired term thereof. Members shall be eligible for reappointment.
   (e)    No member of the Commission shall receive any salary or compensation for his services. (Ord. 78-25. Passed 7-24-78.)
