Each member of the Reserve Police Unit is to receive training in the use of chemical agents and all other defensive weapons used by the Police Department, except firearms, before being utilized in a reserve police capacity. In addition, reserve police officers shall receive training in report writing and other needed paper work as directed by the Chief of Police or the officer in charge. The training will be conducted by members of the St. Albans Police Department as much as possible. At no time shall a member of a Reserve Police Unit carry, brandish or otherwise have on his or her possession a firearm of any type while on or reporting to or from duty. Nor are Reserve Police Unit members authorized to use a firearm, or other deadly weapon in the exercise of their duties and responsibilities as reserve police.
