Where the use of water is critical to the continuation of normal operations or protection of life, property or equipment, duplicate units shall be provided to avoid the necessity of discontinuing water service to test or repair a backflow prevention device. Until such time as a parallel unit has been installed where the continuance of service is critical, the general manager or his or her designated representative shall notify the occupant of the premises, in writing, of plans to interrupt water service and arrange for a mutually acceptable time to test or repair the device.
