§ 15-306 SCHEDULE OF FINES FOR SPEEDING OFFENSES.
   (A)   The City Judge is authorized to fine persons who plead or are found guilty of driving between one and ten mph over the posted speed limit a fine in the amount of $30, exclusive of Court costs and litigation taxes. The City Judge shall have the discretion to assess the maximum fine of $50 where the person’s driving record establishes one or more prior moving violations within the three previous years from the date of the current citation under adjudication.
   (B)   The City Judge is authorized to fine persons who plead or are found guilty of driving between 11 and 20 mph over the posted speed limit a fine in the amount of $40, exclusive of Court costs and litigation taxes. The City Judge shall have the discretion to assess the maximum fine of $50 where the person’s driving record establishes one or more prior moving violations within the three previous years from the date of the current citation under adjudication.
   (C)   The City Judge is authorized to fine persons who plead or are found guilty of driving in excess of 20 mph over the posted speed limit a fine in the amount of $50, exclusive of Court costs and litigation taxes.
   (D)   The City Judge shall have the discretion to fine persons who plead or are found guilty of speeding in any amount over the posted 20 mph speed limit a fine in the amount of $50, exclusive of Court costs and litigation taxes.
   (E)   The City Judge shall have the discretion to fine persons who plead guilty or are found guilty of speeding in any amount over the speed limit in a school zone a fine in the amount of $50, exclusive of Court costs and litigation taxes.
   (F)   Persons opting to pay a fine for a cited speeding violation prior to and in lieu of appearing in City Court to answer the citation for the alleged offense shall pay the appropriate fine as set forth in subsections (A) through (C) above.
   (G)   All fines provided for this section shall be payable to the Clerk of the City Court. Failure to pay the applicable fine prior to and in lieu of appearing in Court, or failure to appear in Court at the specified time to answer the charge, will result in an adjudication of guilt for the alleged offense, as well as an additional citation for failure to appear in accordance with § 3-208 of this code of ordinances.
