(A) Position created. There is hereby created the position of Fire Chief, which shall be in charge of the city’s Volunteer Fire Department.
(B) Actions. All actions taken by the present Fire Chief prior to the adoption of this section are hereby ratified, confirmed and approved.
(C) Designation. Clyde Farmer, the present acting Fire Chief of the city, is hereby designated as the Fire Chief of the city, which shall be a part-time position. He or she shall serve until his or her successor is duly designated by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the city.
(D) Compensation. The compensation for the part-time Fire Chief of the city is fixed at $500 per month until such time as this rate is modified by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. There is hereby appropriated out of the revenues of the city a sum sufficient to pay the compensation of $500 per month to the Fire Chief.
