§ 118.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purposes of this chapter:
   (A)   PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR. Any person who engages in the business of private investigation.
   (B)   BUSINESS OF PRIVATE INVESTIGATION. Except when performed by one excluded under R.C. § 4749.01(h), the conducting, for hire, in person or through a partner or employees, of any investigation relevant to any crime or wrong done or threatened, or to obtain information on the identity, habits, conduct, movements, whereabouts, affiliations, transactions, reputation, credibility, or character of any person, or to locate and recover lost or stolen property, or to determine the cause of or responsibility for any liable or slander, or any fire, common accident, or damage to property, or to secure evidence for use in any legislative, administrative, or judicial investigation or proceeding.
   (C)   CLASS A LICENSEE. A licensee issued a Class A license under R.C. § 4749.03 that qualifies the person issued the license to engage in the business of private investigation and the business of security services.
   (D)   CLASS B LICENSEE. A licensee issued a Class B license under R.C. § 4749.03 that qualifies the person issued the license to engage only in the business of private investigation.
   (E)   CLASS C LICENSEE. A licensee issued a Class C license under R.C. § 4749.03 that qualifies the person issued the license to engage only in the business of security services.
   (F)   SECURITY GUARD PROVIDER. Any person who engages in the business of security services.
   (G)   BUSINESS OF SECURITY SERVICES. Either of the following:
      (1)   Furnishing, for hire, watchmen, guards, private patrolmen, or other persons whose primary duties are to protect persons or property;
      (2)   Furnishing, for hire, guard dogs, or armored motor vehicle security services, in connection with the protection of persons or property.
   (H)   DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE. The division of licensing established within the department of commerce under R.C. § 121.07 to administer the provisions of R.C. Chapter 4749.
   (I)   WRITTEN NOTICE Notification in writing mailed, telegraphed or delivered to the address of the person for whom such notification is intended. If mailed, such notification shall be by first class mail.
   (J)   TRANSFER. Any lease, sale, or other disposition of at least 25% of the assets or control of the agency or business.
   (K)   REPORT QUARTERLY. Written reports received no later than: January 15; April 15; July 15; and October 15 of every year. These quarterly reports due on the 15th shall include information current as of January 1; April 1; July 1; and October 1 of every year.
