§ 155.101 ACCESS AND EGRESS.
   (A)   Every dwelling unit and business occupancy shall be provided with direct and approved means of access and egress to the outside of the dwelling or business unit without passing through any part of any other dwelling or business unit. Every dwelling unit which has a means of egress to a porch, deck or roof above the first floor shall be provided with an approved railing at the perimeter of the porch, deck or roof area.
   (B)   In two-family, multi-family dwellings and business occupancies, any door which is used in connection with such means of access and egress shall be provided with a lock which can be opened from the inside without the use of a key.
   (C)   Inhabited third-floor areas in two-family dwellings shall have at least two means of egress to the outside of the dwelling, such as a stairwell and an approved chain ladder securely fastened to the dwelling structure and readily hung outside an operable window in the event of an emergency. All means of egress from such areas shall be subject to the approval of the City Fire Prevention Bureau. (Ord. 56-1987, passed 10-21-87)
