(a) Police officers shall preserve law and order within the Municipality. They shall patrol the Municipality and shall assist the City Court, if one exists, during the trial of cases. Police officers shall also promptly serve any legal process issued by the City Court.

(b) All police officers employed by the City shall take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of the State of West Virginia and the ordinances of the City of Spencer. A copy of which shall be maintained in the City offices.
(c) Police officers employed by the City are employed at the will and pleasure of the Mayor and Council.
(d) Police officers shall maintain the current level of State certification as set forth and established by the West Virginia Division of Criminal Justice Services.
