§ 35.39  IMMIGRATION LAW COMPLIANCE.
The town only employs United States citizens and aliens who are authorized to work in the United States and does not discriminate against employees or job applicants on the basis of citizenship or national origin. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires that each new employee complete the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 and present documentation establishing identity and employment eligibility. Former employees who are re-hired must also complete the form if they have not completed an I-9 with the Town of South Whitley within the past three years, or if their previous I-9 is no longer retained or valid. Current employees may also be required to update Form I-9 from time to time. Provision of the required information and timely completion of I-9 forms is a condition of employment with the town.
