§ 35.30  EQUIPMENT.
   (A)   Street and utilities. The town will furnish work uniforms (pants and shirts) by way of a clothing allowance. Each employee will receive a $650 clothing allowance chargeable to Employee Policy Manual the town on an annual basis. Uniforms will be worn while at work. The town will furnish safety equipment as needed to perform duties.
   (B)   Police Department. The town will furnish initial issue of uniforms to all officers. Thereafter each officer will receive a $650 clothing allowance chargeable to the town on an annual basis.
   (C)   All departments.
      (1)   Equipment and vehicles essential in accomplishing job duties are expensive and may be difficult to replace. When using property, employees are expected to exercise care, perform required maintenance, maintain proper licensing and follow all operating instructions, safety standards, applicable laws and guidelines.
      (2)   Notify the Utilities Supervisor, Clerk Treasurer or Marshal if any equipment, machines, tools or vehicles appear to be damaged, defective, or In need of repair. Prompt reporting of damages, defects, and the need for repairs could prevent deterioration of equipment and possible injury to employees or others. The improper, careless, negligent, destructive, or unsafe use or operation of equipment or vehicles, as well as excessive or avoidable traffic and parking violations or improper licensing, can result in disciplinary action, including discharge. The use of tools, equipment, vehicles, etc., for personal or other non-town purpose without prior approval by the Utilities Supervisor, Clerk-Treasurer, Marshal or Town Council members is strictly prohibited and can result in disciplinary action, including discharge. Employees may use town vehicles for lunch breaks and rest breaks but must not go outside a two-mile radius of town corporate limits.
      (3)   Upon termination of employment, all uniforms and other equipment issued by the town to the employee shall be returned before final paycheck is issued. In the event that the final paycheck is not sufficient to cover costs of items not returned, the terminated employee will be billed for the balance due the town.
