§ 35.28  INSURANCE COVERAGE.
    (A)   All full time employees are eligible to participate in group health insurance policies secured by the town. Each employee is required to pay for a portion of their health insurance premium (see Clerk-Treasurer for specific information as this is annually adjusted).
   (B)   Beginning on the first day of an accident or eighth day for a sickness (outside of employment) the insurance plan will pay 50% of the regular pay scale up to a maximum of $450 per week for the first 90 days. After 90 days, the insurance plan will pay 66.66% of the regular pay scale up to a maximum of $1,500 per month for a period of two years. In addition, the town will compensate the employee the difference between the insurance payments (including workers' compensation payments) and the employee's regular salary for the first 30 days.
   (C)   The town provides a comprehensive workers' compensation insurance program at no cost to employees. This program covers any injury or illness sustained in the course of employment that requires medical, surgical, or hospital treatment. Subject to applicable legal requirements, workers’ compensation insurance provides benefits after a short waiting period or, if the employee is hospitalized, immediately.
   (D)   Any employee who sustains a work-related injury or illness shall inform the Utilities Supervisor or Marshal immediately. No matter how minor an on-the-job injury may appear, it is important that it be reported immediately. This will enable an eligible employee to qualify for coverage as quickly as possible.
   (E)   An employee who willfully disobeys safety rules or laws or who self-inflicts an injury or is injured as a result of being intoxicated may have benefits denied.
