In case any dwelling or dwelling unit, or part thereof, is used, occupied, or maintained in violation of this chapter, the Building Commissioner, in the name of the town, in addition to the remedies otherwise provided for, may institute an appropriate action or proceeding to prevent, restrain, correct, or abate the unlawful use, maintenance, or occupancy of the dwelling or dwelling unit, or to prevent or correct any condition that is contrary to or illegal under this chapter.
