(A) Preferential right-of-way at an intersection may be indicated by stop signs or yield signs, as authorized in 625 ILCS 5/11-302.
(B) Except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic-control signal, every driver of a vehicle and every motorist of a streetcar approaching a stop intersection indicated by a stop sign shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or, in the event there is no crosswalk, shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but, if none, then at the point nearest the intersection roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the intersection.
(C) The driver of a vehicle approaching a yield sign, if required for safety to stop, shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, in the event there is no crosswalk, at a clearly marked stop line, but, if none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway.

(A) General penalty. Any person who violates any provision of this chapter for which no penalty is provided shall be subject to the terms of § 10.99.
(B) Traffic violations. Whoever violates any provision of this traffic code for which another penalty is not already otherwise provided by ordinance or by appropriate statutory penalty, as generally set forth in 625 ILCS 5/16-101 et seq., shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not more than $750.
(C) Parking violations. Any person accused of a violation of any provision of this traffic code prohibiting parking a vehicle in a designated area, or restricting the length of time a vehicle may be there parked, or parking in a metered area without putting a coin in the meter to cover the required time, may settle and compromise the claim against him or her for the illegal parking by paying to the village $25 for each such offense if paid within five days, or $50 if paid after five days. This payment may be made at the police station, a receipt shall be issued for all money so received and the money shall be promptly turned over to the Village Treasurer to be credited to the General Fund. The members of the Police Department are hereby authorized to refrain from instituting a prosecution for the alleged offense of any place where Police or Fire Department apparatus or other emergency equipment is kept or housed, or so as to block an emergency entrance in a hospital; nor shall this section apply to any person charged with parking a vehicle so as to entirely obstruct traffic in any street or alley, or parking in such a way as to reduce traffic on an arterial street to one-way traffic only; nor to any person who refuses to move a vehicle illegally parked at the request of any member of the Police Department.
(D) Obedience to police officers. Any person convicted of violating § 70.25 is guilty of a petty offense and shall be subject to a mandatory fine of $150.
(E) Interference with devices, signs and signals. Every person who is convicted of a violation of § 70.46 shall be punished by a fine of at least $250, in addition to any other penalties which may be imposed.
(F) Damage to highways, appurtenances and structures. Every person who is convicted of a violation of § 70.47 shall be punished by a fine of at least $250 in addition to any other penalty which may be imposed.
