Receptacles containing garbage shall be water tight, and made of metal or plastic with a close fitting cover. Residential households receiving garbage service from the village’s contracted hauler shall be supplied with a village approved refuse cart and the cart shall be used for refuse. If the approved cart is of insufficient capacity, then additional receptacles must be used and every such additional receptacle shall have a capacity of not less than ten nor more than 34 gallons and shall be provided with suitable handles. A receptacle may be a disposable refuse sack or liner of not less than gauge 0.0015 for plastic or two-ply, 50 pound weight strength paper; and shall not exceed a total weight when filled of 50 pounds.
