(a) No user shall introduce or cause to be introduced into the Publicly Owned Treatment Works any petroleum oil, non-biodegradable cutting oil, or products of mineral oil origin, in amounts that will cause interference or pass through.
(b) No user shall introduce or cause to be introduced into the Publicly Owned Treatment Works any solid or viscous substances in amounts which will cause obstruction of the flow in the sewerage system resulting in interference (but in no case solids greater than two inches).
(c) No user shall allow wastewater discharge concentrations of grease and oil to exceed 100 mg/l as identified by acceptable EPA methods and 40 CFR 136.
(d) All grease/oil interceptors shall be serviced and emptied of accumulated waste content as required in order to maintain Minimum Design Capability or effective volume of the interceptor, but not less often than every ninety days, at the user’s expense. Approved internal or under-counter interceptors shall be cleaned at least once per week. The General Manager may order a user to have the interceptor serviced more frequently if it is determined necessary for the protection of the sewers and/or the environment.
(e) The user shall supervise the servicing of the interceptor. Cleaning shall consist of removal of the entire contents of the device, including grease cap and sludge pocket, and inspection of the empty device for defects and/or obstructions which would prevent proper function.
(f) A user shall have liquid waste removed from its facility only by a transporter holding a valid permit to do so. (Ord. 2034. Passed 11-6-03.)
