When application plans and specifications conform to the requirements of this Building Code, the Chief Building Official is authorized to apply to such plans and specifications his or her official stamp, stating that the drawings and specifications to which the same will have been applied have been examined by him or her and comply with these regulations. The plans and specifications so stamped shall be returned to the applicant, and a copy of such plans, properly stamped, shall be kept on the building or work until the same has been completed. A copy of such plans shall be left with the Chief Building Official, who will return the drawings to the architect or owner when the work has been completed in accordance with such plans, and only when request for such return is made in writing and filed with the copy of the plans left with the Chief Building Official. If no such request for return of plans is made, then the Chief Building Official’s office may destroy these plans on the completion of the work.
