There is hereby established a Senior Services Department pursuant to Council’s authority set forth in Article VI, § 1, of the City Charter. The Senior Services Department shall enrich, assist and engage the lives of older adults in order to maintain and enhance their dignity and strength, both as individuals and groups, and shall provide services that foster independence for adults 60 years of age and over or who provide proof satisfactory to the Director of Senior Services of clinically significant conditions or physical limitations that affect movement, deeming their participation appropriate in the Department of Senior Center Health and Wellness programming. The Senior Services Department shall perform such functions and duties as may be determined by the Mayor and Council, or, unless a contrary intent appears in any action of Council, as may now or hereafter be provided by the laws of the state.
