There is hereby established the position of Public Works Commissioner to be appointed by the Mayor pursuant to Article V, § 5(b), of the City Charter. The Public Works Commissioner shall work under and be subject to the supervision of the Mayor in conjunction with the Departments of Service, Engineering, Water Reclamation and the Construction Department and shall perform such duties as may be delegated to him or her by the Mayor. Among other duties which may be delegated to him or her, the Public Works Commissioner shall have principal authority for coordinating the construction and supervision of capital improvement projects throughout the city.
