(a) Members of the city council shall be treated as employees for the purpose of extending the state workers' compensation coverage.
(b) A council member shall provide written notice of a work-related injury claim to the human resources department not later than three business days after the actual occurrence of an injury. The notice shall include the date, location, and relationship of the injury to the job. Failure to provide the required notice shall result in a denial of the claim. The city shall not be liable if notice is not provided pursuant to this section.
