(A) License required; exception. No person, company, or corporation shall be permitted to open any circus or menagerie, or give any exhibition or entertainment in the open air, or any exhibition or entertainment under tents, or to exhibit any natural or artificial curiosities, or any panorama or other show or device of any kind or nature whatsoever where an admission fee is charged or collected, without first obtaining a license therefor as provided in this chapter; provided, that no license shall be required for any entertainment of a literary or musical character, or for any fair, festival, or other entertainment given for the benefit of any church or for charitable or educational purposes, or for any concert or theatrical performance given in any licensed opera house in the town.
(B) Insurance required. Any person making application for such license shall provide proof of liability insurance in the minimum amount of $500,000.
