The Village Council shall meet and organize for the transaction of business at the first regularly scheduled meeting of the Council following each biennial election. Before entering upon their offices, the Mayor and each member of the Council shall take, subscribe, and have entered upon the minutes of the Council the following oath of office:
“I, , do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and maintain the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent therewith and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of my office as so help me God.”
