SECTION 5.1 APPOINTMENT, QUALIFICATIONS, TERM, COMPENSATION.

The Village Council shall appoint a Village Attorney who shall be an attorney at law licensed to engage in the practice of law in North Carolina and who need not be a resident of the Village during tenure. The Village Attorney shall serve at the pleasure of the Village Council and shall receive such compensation as the Council shall determine.
