The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four years at the next general municipal election. Elections shall be held in odd-numbered years. The term shall commence on the first day of December next after the election, and shall end on the thirtieth day of November next after the election of a successor or as soon thereafter as a successor is qualified. The Mayor shall be an elector of the municipality and shall have resided in the municipality for no less than one year preceding his or her election. The Mayor shall not hold any other public elective office.
