Appeals from any decision or action of the Building Inspector in the administration or enforcement of the provisions of this chapter may be taken to the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Board shall have the authority to permit, on appeal in any given case, methods, standards, or materials other than those required by this chapter if in its opinion strict compliance with the provisions of this chapter is unnecessary in the case, provided the deviant methods, standards, or materials so permitted are consistent with the objectives of this chapter.
