Upon notification by the Building Inspector of the proper number of a building, the owner of the building shall cause the number to be placed and continuously maintained in a conspicuous place on the front of the building. If a building stands back more than 25 feet from the street line, the number shall be conspicuously at or near the walk, driveway, or front entrance to the building, at the street line on a gate post, fence, tree post, or other appropriate place so as to be easily legible from the sidewalk.
